4.1 miles hard

Woke up early enough but I still had some foot and calf pain and decided against going out for a run before breakfast. After doing some stretching during the day I felt a bit better by the evening, so I recklessly tried out a new pair of shoes (Mizuno Wave Musha 2 - I would have gone for another pair of adiZero Tempo but they were out of stock) for a fairly short run down Garscube Road, along Great Western Road and home via Kirklee Road and Maryhill Road. Started off fairly steady, aiming for an overall pace around 6:40/mile, but picked up speed all the way, assisted by the fact that I was just about able to get away with wearing shorts and a t-shirt. 4.13 miles in 26:17, average pace 6:21/mile, HR 148. Lower back was a lot better, foot and calf still a bit dubious but seem to be improving. 70 miles might not be possible this week.

Pace splits (ave. HR): 6:43 (133), 6:36 (146), 6:18 (153), 5:54 (159), 5:39 (166)
HR zones: 1.8%, 18.1%, 68.9%, 11.2%, 0%
