7.4 miles hard

The club training session was 7 miles around Jordanhill, Hyndland and Wyndford. Due to limited turnout the packs were combined. Although it was billed as a steady run, I wore my Newton Motus in case I had to try to keep up. We headed out the top gate and down to Anniesland Cross, picking up the pace gradually. The pack began to split up on Anniesland Road and along Southbrae Drive until John Bell and I broke away. We eased off a bit on Southbrae when I noticed the previous mile had been just inside 6 minutes, but the next mile down Crow Road turned out the same. The hills of Clarence Drive and Cleveden Road slowed us down a bit, and I started to fall off the pace towards the end of Kelvindale Road and up Maryhill Road. John allowed me to catch up after Dawsholm Road and we coasted in for the remainder. Distance was actually 7.36 miles, time 46:52 for a 6:22/mile average, HR 161.

Pace splits (ave. HR): 7:32 (134), 6:28 (149), 5:59 (164), 5:58 (169), 6:20 (171), 6:10 (170), 6:18 (173), 5:52 (173)
HR zones: 0.9%, 10.2%, 21.3%, 67.6%, 0%
